The Kids are coming!

Yes, they have arrived.
And yes, comes a new goat's milk soap making season too. There are kids everywhere dashing to and fro and having loads of fun. Some times they run so fast that they almost run into one another. They must be partially rubbermaid since they quickly recover and just keep on jamming. They are all in different colors but when they are dashing around one never knows what color they really are since they are all in a blur. And yes, we have a select few that are looking for good new loving homes. No matter how much we love them we can't keep all of them!

Beyond the Obvious

Sometimes one just needs to take time for a stroll.

I have been taking alot of strolls lately with not being able to sit down for two months from an accident. I have so much to be thankful for though. My walks have helped to me to see things that I probably would not have noticed before taking these "slow down and take a stroll" moments that I have had lately. You should take a few moments and enjoy a little time to explore yourself.

See if you can look beyond the forest for the trees. . .
oh yeah, these are wildflowers. . . . .
just stop and smell the roses and see what you might actually find there.

Taste of Spring Inspirations

Spring brings new life
new growth
and new hope.

Buds
birds
blooms are tantilizing the senses.

Chimpmunk
Chickadees
and chicks are chittering their charms.

I hope that these small glimses
will not only tempt
you to get out,
but you will get out
and taste and see
what the Lord
has blessed you with abundantly.

And while you are at it. . .

why don't you
plant a little
to grow a little
to have a little feast.

You'll have. . .
color
texture
taste
and hope.

Look past
the obvious
look past what is right
in front of you.
Don't miss
the forest for the trees
nor the tree
for the forest.

Coming soon. . . Nigerian Dairy goat kids for sale

A Few Kids for new homes. Take a peak.

Is it true? Is it not true? Do tell!

We have had a very dry winter, that is if you call the last several months winter. Been too warm for a winter mostly. Nearing drought like conditions. Too windy. Too warm. Too little rains. Ground like concrete until last week. Praise the Lord! We actually did get a couple inches of rains with no severe weather here in the mtns. Most things have been turning brown with little or no leaf growth. With the rains wonderfully there has been changes.

My friend in Georgia thought I should be alarmed, or maybe eecked-out over the yellow pollen floating in the air and on the water and vehicles. Nothing new to me, although it is very discusting. In fact living in paper country pine forests surround us including Cherokee Nat'l Forest. Layers, I mean layers, of yellow will shortly not just surround us but envelope us. What I saw near Atlanta was just a slim version of what we usually see here in this part of the country. However, we have had delay due to the lack of rains.

This weekend we noticed a sudden surge of new growth on the pine trees. Are these baby pine cones? Or scared trees? The Native theory states that in drought the pine trees will abundantly produce pine cones in hope of and knowing that it will be a good chance of being a high fire year. Now we have seen a fair amount of fires in the area already this year and many nearby counties and states are seeing top drought conditions or nearly so. Now if this pine-cone thing is true, theory or no theory, it is a gift given to the trees to "know" from our Creator. No matter what is stimulating this delightful growth in the tree it is truly beautiful to behold.

A special thanks for the beauty from our Creator. But living on this planet, if have allergies, well you just better brace yourself and break out that mask. However, you can still look past the thorns unto the lilies, roses and the pinks.

Feeding the Wild Monkeys

Now before you think I've just gone nuts. I want you to take a trip out to the goats with me. First, put on those boots so that you cannot get stepped on, or toes nibbled upon. Then make sure that you have clothes on that you don't mind getting grubby. Are you covered? Ok then we are off to the barn for the morning feeding. Remember now, they have had to be closed up all night so be prepared for . . . . anything.

Ok, step aside because I'm going to open the door now. Look out! Here they come!

You know I'm now laughing my head off. Because I know that I forewarned you. But somehow you still didn't expect they would rush out at you running, jumping, bouncing all over the place even off their moms and you. Parading in circles this way and then that way. Making mad dashes every which way. I did tell you but you still wanted to come see. Hee heee!

They are like this every day. Everytime I come out they are ready to make a mad dash towards me. If I bend they jump up on me. If my hair is down each kid seems to look at each other and say, "Ready?!" And they jump up grab a portion of hair. I try to stop them and they just hang on. Why just yesterday they did this to me again. They all got off except Baby Hope and she kept hanging on until she hung earring style. Ouch! You laugh. But wait until it happens to you. And Friday, my husband was out with me wearing those slickery hiking pants. Oh the kids just loved those. When they figured out how slick they were they just stood up on him and put their front feet into motion just like they were on a treadmill. I just think they loved the sound!

Here, you put the grain over there for those babies and I'll put this one over here for these. Water buckets and hay are taken care of. Ok, now, quick lets head to the gate while they are eating so they dont' try to escape with us.

Shewwee, we made it! I tell you it's really like this everyday! I sigh a big ole burst of air. You look like you could be a little tired and I see that your hair is a little frazzled. Yes, I do this everyday. But you know it has taught me a few things. Adventure can be fun, it is just how you manage it. Be thankful in all things. And, of course, jump for joy! Why not? It just might put a smile on your face!

Well, we are finally done with feeding these crazy babies. Of course, you get to help with the easy part. Next time. .. you get to do the milking. Oh and that is just in a few more hours. I'll see you again about 5:00 pm!

Sprouting Up

Hello there! Just one of the spring sprouts here at Mtn Top. We are hatching out seedlings of all sorts. White ones. Chocolate ones. Blue eyed ones. And even purple ones. We may not have 100 tomato plants but we have over a hundred different sprouts coming up inside the house and in the garden and pasture. Why today, we have our first Purple of Sicily Cauliflower and Early Purple Sprouting broccoli coming up. Hurray! Like this baby's name, Cloud; we are on Cloud Nine with all the spring sprouts.
